Position: Senior Principal - Head of Performance and Business Planning

Location: Manchester, Cardiff, London or Glasgow. Travel will be required between sites.
Salary: £58,744.67 ( plus £3,200 London weighting if based in London) per annum + excellent benefits, including access to the Civil Service Pension scheme, a range of enhanced parental leave options + flexible working/home working

Within the Corporate Improvement and Impact network, the former Programme Management Office (PMO) team is being enhanced into a new Performance and Effectiveness Unit (PEU). The new Performance and Effectiveness Unit is a pivotal one, providing a centre of excellence in business and programme planning, evaluation and insight, corporate challenge, data analysis and support to all of the Networks. It also leads in the formulation and preparation of the Commission’s annual business plan working closely with the Strategy Team. PEU will work to support the Commission, utilising data, providing high quality insight on impact and timely information, reports, analysis and decision support.
As the head of this newly enhanced function, you will have experience of business planning, possess an excellent analytical skills and a track record of providing strategic advice to support complex decisions. You will provide assurance that the Commission's programmes, projects and operations are effectively planned to deliver clear outcomes and value for money. You will also ensure best practice in planning, programme & project management and risk management is embedded across the organisation.

The successful candidate will be a qualified project manager with some finance related qualifications, commercially astute and have a strong track record of success, especially in leading and managing change and transformation programmes to ensure positive outcomes. You will have strong leadership and influencing skills as well as direct experience of managing business planning processes across an organisation. You will be required to undertake a pre-employment check which includes a basic DBS check if you are successful.
Those joining us from with the Civil Service on a level transfer may be offered their current salary, where possible and if it is legitimate to do so.
