Project Manager - West Midlands

Project Manager | Public Services | 2 year contract | £50,000 - £55,000 per annum

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager with a proven track record of delivery, to develop and lead key projects critical to meeting regulatory requirements, and play a key role in supporting the wider business. Key to the success of the role will be an accomplished background in project management, ideally substantial experience in managing large scale projects of business change, including system and process changes with experience in managing virtual project teams, including the leading, coaching and motivation of team members. The role requires an ability to understand, determine and manage competing priorities in a regulated environment. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• To lead and manage the implementation of service delivery and system change projects through to delivery of new capabilities, realisation of benefits and closure as a result of major legislative and business change.

• To contribute to developing the collaborative relationships with key stakeholders  and to ensure delivery of services meet the specific requirements of the project(s).

• The day-to-day operational running of projects to plan and managing a virtual team resource to deliver changes. Planning and designing workstreams, monitoring overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate.

• To ensure that all aspects of projects remain on target to deliver outcomes that will achieve the expected benefits and that the project will be completed within the agreed budget and timeline.

• Manage the day to day activities of project delivery, highlighting and managing any risks and issues within agreed tolerances.

• Provide regular reports to the key stakeholders including senior managers in relation to the progress of the projects, reporting any project slippage, risk analysis and remedial action to be taken to identify issues.

• Effectively manage project scope by ensuring any changes to scope are documented and approved through effective project change management.

• To plan, organise and support meetings across all projects, working closely with the Project Sponsor and workstream groups to include agenda planning, monitoring progress, arranging meetings and support with key actions and outcomes from meetings.

• Responsible for the monitoring and reporting on overall business performance of the project and KPIs affected by change.

Skills, experience:

• Graduate or equivalent with a Project Management Qualification.
• Extensive experience in managing large scale projects of business change, including system and process changes within a regulated environment.
• Experience in managing virtual project teams.
• Evidenced experience of stakeholder management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
